The super car McLaren MP4-12C stripped the roof

Officially unveiled another member of the family of supercars McLaren MP4-12C. Version of the open-top three-component solid metal gained the upper hand, refreshed 625-hp engine and an impressive price 243,000 euros.

At McLaren officially responded to one of the major issues of recent weeks - what exactly will get the upper hand McLaren MP4-12C Spider. It was found that a modification of the open super car supplied, as expected, metal hardtop, but the special effects on weight super cars it did not have: a super car weight by only 40 kg. It specifies that three-piece roof (it was called RHT, Retractable Hard Top) is able to unpack at speeds up to 30 km / h, and the process goes to 17 seconds. It is also noted that as a modest increase in weight explained by the fact that the super car was designed with a view to building an open version because power structure body is not claimed modernization.

Spider got the same 625-hp 3.8-liter turbo engine that compartment, but due to the modified aerodynamics and weight gain modification is still open a little slower. She 0.1s slower from zero to 100 miles per hour (for 6.1 s), while the speedup of up to 200 km / h spends 0.2 with larger (9.0 seconds). But the results on the acceleration to 100 km / h is quite identical - 3.1 seconds.

Another structural differences from spider coupe is built in the system of protection of passengers in rollover and special wind screen between the head restraints, optimizing the air flows. In addition, McLaren came up with a way to use the compartment that is packed roof for luggage - it holds 52 liters of luggage when the hard top is in the unfolded state. The company's designers have even developed a special cover for this bag. Orders for outdoor McLaren MP4-12C has taken the brand dealers in 22 countries around the world. First cars (spider is worth at least 243,000 euros, an increase of almost 25,000 euros more expensive coupe) will go to customers in November.
